Very little is “officially” known about the upcoming Ankermake M5C 3d printer, for some reason Ankermake appear to be marketing it through the models it has printed. Which is a weird flex if we’re honest – given that almost any printer, as you might expect, is capable of printing things.
What we know?
The Ankermake M5C will probably not have a screen. There are various pics of it hanging around, and in none of them is there a screen.
The below image is from the FCC filing, and probably isn’t quite the same as the final product, but who knows.
The M5C is likely to run either Klipper or Marlin firmware, oddly the latter is more likely, but a lack of screen points more toward Klipper as it natively supports it. It’s likely you will have to control the printer via an app on a phone, which might be a huge downside if the app turns out to be less than great.
The Ankermake M5C will cost $399, although pre-orders are $359. This is a very budget price for the pictures we have seen, which show a similar construction style to the M5.
The M5C will likely operate on a single button press. There’s a lot in the marketing about a single button. I think this, meaning simplicity, will be one of the key marketing strategies Ankermake will take.
When’s it out?
It seems that it will be announced fully on August 1st.
