Well, that went well didn’t it.

If you read my last post – where I said I was stopping reviewing printers and hardware – if you follow the channel, you’ll know that ….wasn’t exactly how it panned out.

So, I was wrong. But also there was a problem, so I was right about that.

I think there were a few factors at play. But two main ones.

  • 2023 was a year where a LOT of printers came out that were almost identical
  • Some manufacturers released several sizes or versions of ultimately the same model

I think the balance is somewhere closer to where we are now. Identifying that the above is a thing and while of course this is good for consumers, it’s bad for reviews because instead of having one review for the new “printer X”, you end up having one review for it, then another that is frankly quite dull “it’s the same but bigger”, and then sometimes even a third.

I’m saying “no” more and I’m not particularly proud of that – but – I’ve managed to cover some really leading edge printers, and be among the first to review them because I don’t have a backlog. I’ve also managed to make videos about other topics too, way more than in 2023, and way more on the way.

And I’ve managed to plan some other things too like a subscriber (patreon etc) section on the website, and more exclusive content is on the way there.

So….I guess I’m still reviewing hardware. We’ll see what 2024 brings.
